Five of Our Favourite Foods for Glowing Skin

When it comes to glowing skin, the food we eat is just as important as the products we apply to our skin. To achieve a balanced complexion, it’s all about working towards healthy skin from the inside out. Formulated with a passion for nutrition and natural food ingredients, Edible Beauty supports skin’s radiance and vitality. Alongside a diet rich in antioxidants and fermented ingredients, get ready to embrace your natural glow this season.

1. Fermented foods

Gorgeous glowing skin is greatly influenced by our gut health. Believed to contain up to 80% of our immune system, having a healthy digestive system is key. To maintain a good balance of bacteria and improve your body’s absorption of nutrients, try introducing fermented foods into your diet. Think anything from kimchi and sauerkraut to yogurt and kombucha! Popular in Europe, sauerkraut for example is made from finely shredded cabbage and layered salt left to ferment. During this fermentation process, probiotics are formed to aid gut flora and assist with the treatment of skin concerns such as acne and wrinkles.

2. Avocado

Rich in healthy fatty acids, vitamins and antioxidants, Avocados work to improve your skin from the insides out. These antioxidant properties help protect the skin from environmental damage that causes fine lines, wrinkles and other visible signs of ageing. This delicious vegetable also assists in the production of collagen and elastin, to maintain skin’s structure and firmness. Filled with healthy fats, avocados are deeply moisturising to leave skin soft and hydrated.

Too much avocado? There’s no such thing! Our & Sleeping Beauty Purifying Mousse contains avocado oil derived from plant esters. Incredible for balancing the skin, it’s the perfect skincare ingredient for anyone struggling with hormonal acne or an oily t-zone.

3. Blueberries

Known for their incredible antioxidant properties, blueberries also contain vitamins A, E and C to assist with collagen production and neutralize free radicals. Protecting the skin from environmental damage, these berries are naturally anti-inflammatory to reduce redness in the skin. As they work to balance hormones and reduce the appearance of dark spots, blueberries are ideal for anyone with acne prone complexions.

5. Turmeric

Much like blueberries, turmeric is loaded with antioxidants. Used for centuries in Chinese and Indian medicine, turmeric’s anti-inflammatory properties have been linked to everything from lowered cholesterol to improved joint pain. When it comes to your skin, this ancient spice helps to reduce redness and acne scarring while calming conditions such as psoriasis and eczema. Our recommendation? Swap out your morning coffee for a golden turmeric latte. Your skin will thank you.

You can find turmeric in our booster serum, Turmeric Brightening Serum. Formulated to assist with sebum (oil) production, pigmentation and skin luminosity. A must try!
