An Insightful Journey to Edible Beauty: How Founder Anna Embraced Clean Skincare and Wellness

From personal health challenges to creating a clean, luxurious skincare brand, Anna, the founder of Edible Beauty, shares her inspiring journey into natural skincare.

Anna’s brand Edible Beauty was born from a passion for wellness, fuelled by her background as a naturopath and nutritionist and her commitment to making skincare products that are as pure as they are effective.

A Health Journey That Sparked a Skincare Revolution

When Anna was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at 18, it changed her life. “Being diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder like Type 1 diabetes can always present a huge lifestyle shift,” she says. The diagnosis ignited her interest in natural health solutions, leading her to become a naturopath and nutritionist.

“My first role was at a natural fertility clinic,” she explains. She often recommended dietary and lifestyle changes to clients, which led her to recognise a surprising gap in the market: a lack of truly natural, luxurious skincare options. “I was shocked to find that there were very few options available for skincare products that were ‘edible’ yet still felt luxurious and therapeutic,” she recalls.

 

 

Driven to fill this void, Anna started experimenting in her kitchen with ingredients like shea butter, cocoa butter, and rose water—eventually launching Edible Beauty Australia in 2014.

Creating a Space for Edible Beauty in a Competitive Market

Launching a natural skincare brand in 2014 came with challenges, especially as the concept of clean beauty was still in its infancy in Australia. “One of the biggest challenges was educating consumers on why clean, toxin-free skincare is important—not just for beauty, but for overall health,” Anna explains.

With a mission to educate the public, she immersed herself in wellness events, expos, and workshops, spreading awareness of the importance of ingredients.

Leveraging her background in naturopathy, Anna gained the trust of a wellness-focused audience who quickly embraced Edible Beauty’s products. “Our unique ‘edible’ concept wasn’t just about natural skincare—it was about creating products pure enough to eat,” she adds.

As consumers started prioritizing health and scrutinising product ingredients, Edible Beauty gained momentum, standing out for its commitment to transparency and high-quality, therapeutic ingredients.

Her formulas strengthen the skin’s natural barrier and enhance collagen production without the dryness often associated with synthetic retinol.

Edible Beauty uses plant-based alternatives like bakuchiol, along with known actives like hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, and ceramides that meet strict purity standards. The brand also emphasises the importance of gut health and reducing free radical damage to support vibrant, youthful skin from within.

Fiber is another essential for her, which helps balance hormones and maintain clear skin. “I also make sure to include plenty of healthy fats, like those from walnuts and avocados, which are crucial for skin’s structural integrity.”
