Soak Society Founder Natalie Thorogood on pursuing your dreams, charcoal soaks and unwinding rituals

We love the Soak Society's toxin-free soak products and the natural beauty and wellness message the brand represents. In the blog post below we interview Natalie Thorogood, founder of the Soak Society and get a beautiful insight into the life of the successful female entrepreneur.
What inspired you to create your luxurious toxin-free soak range?
A few things. I couldn’t find a similar product on the market that was an affordable price point. I was making these salt, clay and essential oils mixes at home for myself and thought, why not create a brand around these soaks and make every product all about soaking!? Soak Society was born. I am so passionate about avoiding chemicals in beauty products, so being an all natural brand was a no brainer.
What is your ultimate way to unwind and your favourite soak product?
My favourite is the Sleep wellness soak. Being the owner of a growing business I find it hard to ‘switch off’ at nighttime, constantly tossing and turning because of too many thoughts! I drink the Edible Beauty Sleeping Beauty tea in the bath and put my phone on aeroplane mode so I can’t be distracted. This ritual has me feeling very sleepy! I often put my oil burner on with lavender oil in the bedroom afterwards too and read a book, bliss!
Tell us a little bit about what a day in the life of “Natalie Thorogood”...
I’m lucky to live on the beautiful Sunshine Coast near Noosa, so that definitely helps with work/life balance. I will start the day with replying to any urgent emails and figuring out the plan of attack for the day with my team. If the weather is nice, I will sometimes take a half hour break to have a swim and lay in the sun! No day is ‘regular’ because there are always different things to be done. Some days will be more production based and others are focused on new product development and strategy. I manage our social media, so there is always that too! Late afternoons are spent going for walks with girlfriends in the Noosa national park and then cooking dinner with my partner. I try not to work too late into the night, but I love what I do, so sometimes it can’t be helped!
If you could give female entrepreneurs just one piece of advice what would it be?
Never think that you can't do something. I really wish I knew that earlier, because I spent a lot of time telling myself I couldn't do something because of my background, education etc etc.
We tend to put limitations on ourselves, which are created by our minds! Honestly, there is nothing you can't do, all it takes is consistent hard work and a belief that you will succeed. Even if money is an issue, you will find a way. Put the focus on creating a really good product, ensuring you spend 80% of time on sales and the growth of the business.
Your business is going from strength to strength, are you able to give us a sneak peak on any exciting new products or initiatives you have planned?
We are just about to launch a new Noosa wellness soak in the next few days, AND we have also created an activated charcoal wellness soak in collaboration with The Lab Organics in Melbourne, called Yinyang. Both will be online very shortly! In the next few months we are working on launching a Soak Subscription for all our regular soakers, one wellness soak of your choice delivered to your house every 2 months which will definitely be out before Christmas!
